C. Smith to Moss & Bridgford Deed To all whom these presents shall come I Oliver C. Smith Administrator of the Estate of John H. Smith deceased send Greeting. Whereas on the 2nd day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Six the County Court of the County of Monroe in the State of Missouri at the August adjourned term one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Six of said Court ordered by an entry of record that I as administrator of said estate Sell at public sale for cash in hand the following described real estate to wit the East half of the South East quarter of Section thirty two Township fifty five Range twelve and the South East quarter of the South East quarter of Section twenty nine Township fifty five Range twelve Situate in Said County of Monroe or so much thereof as may be necessary to pay the debts of said estate and Whereas previously to the day of the Sale hereinafter mentioned I as such administrator caused a notice that said real estate would be sold at public sale on the fifth day of November 1866, while the County Court of Said County of Monroe was in session at the Court house door of said County for cash in hand to be Published in the "Weekly Paris Mercury" a newspaper published in this state for four weeks, and Whereas previously to such day of Sale I as Such administrator had said real estate appraised in due form of law by John Alexander, George W. Key and J. M. Pickett, three disinterested householders of said County, who on the 18th day of August 1866 having first made the affidavit required by law appraised said real estate to be of the value of Six hundred dollars and so certified in their certificate of appraisement and the power in me by law vested so to do I as such administrator did on the fifth day of November 1866 between the hours of nine in the forenoon and five in the afternoon of that day at the Court house door of Said County of Monroe while the County Court of said County was in session expose to Sale openly at public auction for cash in hand all the right title and interest which the said John H. Smith had in and to said real estate at the time of his death and David H. Moss & Jefferson Bridgford being the highest and last bidder for said real estate at the price and sum of Three hundred dollars, the same was stricken off and sold to the said David H. Moss and Jefferson Bridgford for that sum and Whereas at the term of the County Court of Said County of Monroe next following the sale of said real estate being the February adjourned term of said County Court and on the 7th day of March 1867 I as such administrator made to said Court a report verified by my affidavit as the law directs and accompanied by the certificate of appraisement and a copy of the advertisement of my proceedings touching such sale including the manner time terms and place of Sale and of the property Sold and to whom Sold all as heretofore set fourth, and which report was thereupon approved by said Court by its proper order entered of record, No therefore in consideration of the premises and of the said Sum of three hundred dollars to me said administrator paid by the said David H. Moss and Jefferson Bridgford the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and by virtue of the authority in me vested by law I Oliver C. Smith administrator as aforesaid do hereby grant Sell and convey to the said David H. Moss & Jefferson Bridgford all the right title and interest which the said John H. Smith had of in and to said real estate at the time of his death, To have and to hold the right, title and interest hereby conveyed unto the said David H. Moss & Jefferson Bridgford their heirs and assigns forever with all rights and privileges thereunto belonging. In witness whereof I Oliver c. Browman Clerk of the Monroe County Court in & for the Said County of Monroe, Oliver C. Smith who is known to me to be the Same person whose name is signed to the foregoing instrument of writing as a party thereto and acknowledged the same to be his act & deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned.
