Devine-Stewart Cemetery, Montgomery County, Missouri Small Family Cemetery Most of the people were family of John and Mary Stewart. The cemetery is now known as Devine-Stewart Cemetery. Located on Private Property Directions: Just of gravel road, on Southeast quarter of Section 35 township 49 North, Range 6 West, on land owned by John Knipfel (1974 to Present) The first research was done in 1974 by Mrs. Frederick Bohl. Their Dau. April 9, 1857 - Sept. 8, 1904 *All three of the above names on one large stone. Stone is lying on the ground. This stone is a newer style of stone and quite obviously the last one set up in this cemetery. Worland, Edward H. Born Sept. 18, 1817 Died July 5, 1842 (Brother of William Theophilus Worland, Grandfather of John Worland) O'Rourke Mary H. Daughter of M. and M. O'Rourke Born July 27, 1865 Died Feb. 1, 1870 Brown Wife of John E. Brown Died March 25, 1865 Aged 31 Y 10m 25d L. A. O. Foot Stone *There are a number of graves marked with flat fieldstones, set on edge in the ground. There may have been other grave markers but they could be hidden in the dirt or under the ground cover, which is a short green plant, which is sometimes called periwinkle in this area. Foot Stone I did not see this stone It could be gone or not Visible *Emily Stewart 1811 to 1844 *Brown stone buried under the Ground cover and could be the first burial in the family cemetery. This stone was not included with Mrs. Bohl's original research because it was buried beneath the ground cover like she indicated. I was directed to the cemetery by walking around a small lake, which is along side the main road up a little hill and into the woods. The stones can be visible once you walk into the woods a short distance.
