Mrs. Eli Goodwin is better, after several days' sickness. Farmers are busy haying, stacking and preparing for threshing. George Parker circulated among his relatives and friends last week. He talks of going west and growing up with the country. Died, at Carterville, on July 16th, 1892, John G. Merrell, after more than a year's illness with asthma. His body was brought here Sunday and buried in Spring Valley cemetery. Preaching at this place was well attended. There will be preaching here again the 1st Sunday in August at 4 p.m. by Richard Van Vliet, an evangelist from Neosho. All are requested to attend. Quite a sensation was caused here last week (it has given the gossipers plenty to talk about since) by the reported separation of a man and his wife and the hasty emigration of a young man for parts unknown. However, the couple have made up after a full confession by the guilty parties, and now two hearts beat as one again. QUIDNUNC.
