The family moved to Ravenwood in 1851, where Lorinda attended school and later took a Business Course in Kansas City, where she afterwards spent a few months as a Stenographer, but the most of her life was passed here in Ravenwood. About three years ago her health began failing and although it seemed that every effort that love and means could put forth was made for the benefit of her health. She and her father making two trips to the west and last February she accompanied by her Father and Brother O. E. and Wife, went to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they spent two months, but she gradual grew weaker. On January 2nd, she accompanied by her Sister, Mrs. Curry and Brother, J. J. went to St. Joseph, where she had every attention but of no avail, as she passed away on the date above mentioned. All the members of the family being in St. Joseph at the time. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one dying in infancy and the other at the age of 9 years, her younger sister, Lottie, who died June 7th 1906, and her mother who passed away January 10th, 1910. She leaves to mourn her departure, her father, sisters Mrs. T. M. Curry, husband and two children of Hillsdale, Wyoming, and two brothers O. E. and wife, and J. J. also many friends. Rebekh Lodge and Order Eastern Star, and was true to principles and teachings of the Orders. She bore her suffering with great patience and fortitude, ever cheerful and hopeful, but as her going away drew near, she expressed herself to her brother as being ready to go. She was a bright and cheery homemaker and by her beautiful character gained a wide circle of friends, who she ever met with a smile and kindly greeting. During her last days she was ever thoughtful of the family lest they would get sick from caring for her. She cherished the friendships of old people, how sadly they will miss her, for she was always so considerate, remembering them with flowers, cards and other ways when she was not able to visit them personally. "Tis hard to part when friends are dear. Perhaps "Twill cause a sigh or tear." Then steal away, give little warning say not goodnight, but in some brighter clime bid me good morning.
