County Line Cemetery

Access road unidentified - secured directions at Dora

This burial ground dates from 1896 when W. H.  (William)  McCumber  and
his wife, Angeline, deeded three acres to the trustees  of  the  County
Line Baptist Church  for  a  church  house  and  cemetery.  The  church
trustees were T. C. Smith, J. A. Bennett, and William Hogan.


Now the cemetery lies on the Cecil and Noma Nash  farm,  which  adjoins
Mark Twain National Forest land.  The  cemetery  is  public  land,  but
visitors wishing to drive onto the farm property may wish to notify the
owners.

When the inventory was made, there were 26 inscribed markers  including
one stone simply marked "Twins" and an unreadable metal marker. Thirty-
six graves are marked with fieldstone, and there is evidence of several
unmarked graves. The earliest burials with markers were  made  in  1888
and the most recent, in 1940. The inscriptions an the headstones are:
