Fore Cemetery T21, R11, S11 County Road 587 at Bakersfield City Limits This cemetery is a family burial ground located on land homesteaded by Samuel and Margaret M. Fore. The grounds are fenced. In Civil War times, bushwackers came upon the land, and on 6 February 1865, killed Samuel Fore and his son, James G. The daughters of Samuel Fore, Maggie Fore Price, Mary Fore Mitchell and Elizabeth Fore Galbraith, buried their father and brother, fashioning a wagon bed into a coffin. Also killed by bushwackers, during the War, on Fore land was a relative whose name was Kerr, an uncle to Robert S. Kerr, a former Oklahoma governor. He was killed as was carrying a load of ears of corn in his arms to feed his horse. Johnnie May Lester said she remembers hearing these stories told by older friends reminiscing of happenings told to them. There are several graves marked with fieldstones.
