Newberry Hobbs, who established the Longrun Post Office and store in 1898, and his wife, Martha, deeded one acre for the cemetery in 1915. There were already a number of burials there at the time. Since then, additional parcels of land have been added. In 1956, H. B. and Martha Hobbs gave a fraction of an acre to enlarge the cemetery, and in 1957 another fraction of an acre was obtained from Troy and Joan Wilson. In the mid 1970's, the grounds were enclosed with a chainlink fence, toward which Nellie Hobbs contributed $500. The balance was paid by donations. The Longrun community is now in the Mark Twain National Forrest area. The name comes from a several mile-long run, a branch of Pondfork. BIRD, P.
