This is the homestead of John Mahan, who was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, theson of David and Polly Mahan. He was brother to Isaac, Noah, and King David. Many of their descendants still live in Ozark County today. John was a Union soldier, and he homesteaded here at the end of the Civil War. His homestead papers were signed by President U. S.Grant in 1874. Some of the first buried here were Mahan infants. The place was bought from the Mahan heirs by A. J. Bradley, and later became the property of his daughter, Mary Burttram. Archie Buttram, who compiled information in this cemetery, reported that he had three grandfathers buried there: great-great-grandfather John Mahan, great-grandfather A. J. Bradley, and grandfather Jacob Buttram. Here are the headstone inscriptions: BRADLEY, Andrew J., 4 Jun 1859-24 Jul 1910 BRADLEY, Nancy S., 19 Feb 1865-21 Jul 1925 BRADLEY, Andrew J.
