Both Mrs. Robbins, the former Nellie McGinnis, and Mrs. Trump, the former Pamela Robbins, have family members buried there and are interested in the cemetery committee's project of establishing a fund for the perpetual care of the grounds. Mrs. Trump is a member of the committee and the others are J. R. Anderson, Jarel Mack Anderson and Sie Long. Mammoth Cemetery was first known as Miller Cemetery. The name Mammoth probably came into use sometime after Mammoth post office was established in 1903 by William Dye. J. W. Dye, who is 82, and probably the oldest resident in the Mammoth community, recalls that when he was very young, Miller Cemetery was located in the valley near the old post office and store. But the land was subject to flooding from Lick, Possum Walk and Little creeks, that flow through the valley at Mammoth, so the cemetery was moved to its present hillside, Mr. Dye said. He said he recalls the graves being opened and the coffins being moved to the new location. The work was done by men in the neighborhood and some of the coffins had to be repaired while some had to be remade, he said. The cemetery is located on a hillside on Route T nine miles south of Gainesville. There are 205 graves with markers in the cemetery and 102 are marked by rocks only. The earliest burial with a headstone is Melissa A. Collins, 18667-1869. The land where the cemetery lies was designated as swamp land and was state property to be disposed of as the state saw fit. On Aug. 7, 1869, J. W. McClurg, governor of Missouri , turned the land over to the Ozark county court and on Feb. 3, 1880, the county court sold the land to John F. Sams. W. T. Piland was presiding judge at that time and signed the deed. Other early burials, besides Melissa Collins, were Elizabeth Collins, 1786-1874; Alice Sams, 1870-1873; Charles G. Sams (infant) 1873 and Sarah Piland, 1871-1875. The burial ground was first known as Miller Cemetery because a cemetery by this name, located in nearby low ground, was moved to this site. There are a number of Miller graves in the cemetery and some of these bodies were probably moved to this site from the earlier location. A fairly long row of graves marked only with stones is probably where some of the graves were dug when the original Miller Cemetery was relocated. In the "H's" which concluded last week's listing of headstone information, the name of Eliza Hayes, 1890-1896, was omitted. (Now added to above list) Also omitted was a mention of a rock with only the initials, R. T. A., engraved on it. Here is the remainder of the headstone information: Jessup, Catherine, 1910-1970 Jessup, Joel T., 1906-1975 Kirkland, Genetta Belle, 1919-1920 Lockwood, Emma, 1858-1921 McGinnis, Aaron, 1836-1913 McGinnis, Elizabeth, 1884-1961 McGinnis, Euel D., 1913-1976 McGinnis, Gertie L., 1882-1966 McGinnis, John L., 1881-1962 McGinnis, Lee, 1877-1924 McGinnis, Luther M., 1875-1944 McGinnis, Palmer, 1914 McGinnis, Susan, 1880-1933 McGinnis, Vernie R., 1917-1921 Mashburn, Henry J., 1838-1909 Miller, Albert B., 1877-1949 Miller, F.
