Gen. & Historical Society ==================================================================== Noble Cemetery T24, R15, S24 Highway 5 to A, about one mile, turn left to cemetery The earliest account available of this cemetery is in conjunction with the Congregational Church of Noble, 14 Dec 1896, when the church set aside two acres to Ozark County for a graveyeard. The second account is a deed for the two acres dated three years later, 27 Oct 1899, by Howard Feemster, notarized by Ed Merritt, and filed 13 Nov 1899. Dexter W. Hawkins, a life-long resident of Noble, reports that among the earliest headstones are those of a Rev. Loba, a Dr. Steely, the wife of W. D> Stevens, and R. E. Smith. Hawkins thinks that Loba may have been one of the early pastors of the Congregational Church. Loba's stone is dated 1895 "The view from the Noble Cemetery is beautiful," Hawkins contends, "Looking southeast-ward, one can see the hills of the Caney Refuge area, and looking westward, the Glade Top Trail area." The cemetery is located just south of Ozark County State Road A., approximately one mile east of the Noble Post Office. (And about one mile from Hwy 5. The lane to the cemetery turns back east, nearly adjacent to the Hwy.)
