Gen. & Historical Society ==================================================================== Norris/Piland Cemetery T24, R15, S17 North on JJ from Thornfield to cemetery gate, across field about 1 mile This cemetery is located north of Thornfield in JJ Highway about four miles. There is a sign on the gate on the east side of the road. Go east through the gate, through fields about one mile east and then north. The cemetery is fenced and well kept. There are some fieldstones and other unmarked and unreadable markers. Marcus B. Piland and Della Piland, for the sum of $1.00, deeded the plot to the Mt. Lebanon Church of the General Baptist on 16 May 1910. Tommy Norris, founder of the Missouri Association of General Baptist, and his wife are buried here. John Piland's body was the first interment, which occurred during the Civil War. Settlers Goodman Daves, Elijah Newberry and Sanders Thompson are buried here.
