Gen. & Historical Society ==================================================================== Stillwell Cemetery T24, R13, S2 No evidence remains There is no obvious sign remaining of the Stillwell Cemetery. There were perhaps four graves dating from the Civil War to the turn of the century. The name of the cemetery comes from the family who lived close by. There are Stillwells buried there, among others. Early settlers here with this surname included John and Martha Stillwell. Information on the cemetery was obtained from local long-time rersidents and from visits to the area. Several years ago, a man bought the place and moved there, He took up the grave stones, both fieldstones and cut monuments, and used them as fill and in a retaining wall. The cut stones were buried in a ditch that at one time contained the roadway leading to the low water bridge across the Bryant. The remains of the old bridge can still be seen. The place where the Stillwells lived, the old Bell school, and the cemetery location are now owned by Bill LeRoy who lives several miles east.
