The name cones from the first settlers heee, Sammie and Minerva Stone. The land is now owned by Hoe Harman, Long-time residents remember hearing family members say the cemetery once contained some 100 graves, a number having inscribed stones. The stone that remains has this inscription: SMITH, Z. M., (Masonic Emblem), 2 Dec 1821-17 Mar 1891 One partial stone proclaims, "God be with you 'til we meet again."
