So he died in Pettis Co but is buried in Knob Noster. Homer Ficken Sedalia Democrat, August 5, 1930: John F. Schlusing, 86 years old, died at the home southwest of Lamonte at four AM Monday morning. He was born in Germany August 19, 1843. He was a Union Soldier in the Civil War. Mrs. Schlusing died 40 years ago. He is survived by the following children: E. W. Schlusing and Mrs. M. M. Ficken of the home address, H. C. Schlusing of Knob Noster, Mrs. Anna Williams and Mrs. A. E. Doeeance of Lamonte. Funeral services were at the home, by Rev. P. J. Allwell, pastor of the Knob Noster Methodist Church. Pall bearers were O. W. Peithman, Ray Anderson, H. A. Winter, George Ragner, George Crole, and Virgil Lane. Burial Knob Noster Cem.
