Biographical Sketch of Mrs. Elizabeth Branson, Phelps County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Mrs. Elizabeth Branson, residing a short distance east of Rolla, Mo., was born in South Carolina in 1810, and is a daughter of Robert and Nancy (Neice) Campbell, who were born in South and North Carolina, about 1780 and 1779, respectively. Mrs. Branson is the third of their nine children, and while residing in Gasconade county, Mo., was married to James Harvey Hawkins, by whom she became the mother of three child- ren: William Jefferson, Joseph Marion and Jacob Monroe. Mr. Hawkins was a farmer by occupation, and died in Gasconade county, Mo., in 1844. Two years later his widow married David Branson, who was also a farmer by occupation, born in 1810, and died in 1881 on the farm where his widow is now residing.
