His parents names were Francis Marion Foree (originally spelled Fore) & Lurissa Adelade Barrow. They later moved to St. Louis County, Missouri. It is said that Laurissa was always a happy outgoing person. It would be interesting if Lurissa turned out to be related to Clyde Barrow of Bonnie & Clyde fame. The Foree family did raise a relative by the name of Clyde Barrow but it is not known if he was THE Clyde Barrow. I was told that other relatives wondered the same thing & when they would ask Lurissa if the Clyde that she raised was the gangster she would never answer them but would just start crying. Lurissa died in 1973 when she choked on a piece of apple. It took the ambulance 45 minutes to get to the house then she was conveyed to County Hospital where she was pronounced. The Foree family rented the Kaes house in St. Louis County from approx. 1947 to 1980. When you go in the front door of the house the first room on the right was Rudy's room (this was after his parents were gone.) To the left was the kitchen. His brother Ralph lived there too. Ralph had a wooden leg. He cut his foot while swimming in the river, it got infected & his leg had to be amputated. Ralph had his room upstairs & would take his wooden leg off at night to sleep. Rudy took the room downstairs in case anyone ever broke into the house he would be better able to fend off intruders. Off & on over the years other Foree relatives lived in the house too. Rudy worked for many years for General Motors without missing a day of work. Even when the tractor turned over on him & crushed his foot he still didn’t miss any work. Foree ~ Barrow Genealogy Civil War Rudy's gr.grandfather Fore/Foree was a Confederate Soldier who was captured & imprisoned at Alton Illinois. He & a friend managed to escape by floating across the Mississippi River at night on a board or a log. 1880 Census - Spring Creek, Phelps - Missouri William Fore - head - age 46 - born about 1834 - Kentucky - Father's birthplace: VA Mother's birthplace: NC Mary A. - age 37 James - 21 Christopher - 12 Martha E. - 10 Marion F. - 8 Sarah J. - 6 Samuel J.T. - 3 Amos D. - 3 months 1900 Census - Spring Creek - Phelps - Missouri William - head - age 65 - born - 1835 - Ky., Va., N.C., - Farmer - Mary A. - wife - age 58 - Apr. 1842 - Mo., Ky., Ky. Believe this is probably in error. Probably should be 38. 1920 Census - So far I have been unable to find the Francis Fore/Foree family in the 1920 census. 1930 St. Louis County census the Foree family was living in Meramec Township.Francis Foree's age is given as 58 which puts his birthdate as 1872. Birthplace: Missouri. Lurissa's age is 36 putting her birthyear as 1894. Their children are listed as: Ruby age 15 Mary 14 Maxine 11 Ralph 9 August 4 3/12 James 1 11/12 WWII Rudy's service record states that he was a S/Sgt. with Co.E, 6th Range Inf. Bn. He entered the service 1 October 1941 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He was a Gun Crewman, light Artillery. He had a Combat Infantry Badge. Was listed as a rifle expert 8 May 1944. He participated in the following battles & campaigns: New Guinea, Southern Philippines & Luzon. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars & a Good Conduct Medal. A Lapel Button was issued & he was entitled to wear Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon & Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/2 Bronze Stars. When he was stationed in the Philippines at New Guinea he had a pet wallaby. When he got shipped out he had to leave it behind. LOURISSA FOREE - Social Security Death Index - SSN: 490-28-8225 Last Residence: 63078 Saint Clair, Franklin, Missouri, [I have to wonder about this address as family members state that Lurissa died at the Kaes House in St. Louis County] United States Born: 29 Mar 1894 Died: Dec 1973 State (Year) SSN issued: Missouri (Before 1951) BARROW~ 1900 Census - Dent County - Missouri - Watkins Township Robert F. Barrow born September 1859, age 40 birthplace Mississippi, birthplace of father Alabama, birthplace of mother S. Carolina. Elzana - wife - (age 37) born September 1862, birthplace Missouri Ferdnand born June 1883 ?Gender? E. born August 1884, age 16 ?Thomas? age 10 James W. born 1891 Lourissa born March 1894 Gilbert born Jan 1897. It gives the number of years that Robert & Elzana were married as 12 ~ this would put their marriage year at 1888. So the first two children must have been by Robert & a previous wife. For Elzana it states that she is the mother of seven children four of whom are living. The possibility of a connection to the gangster Clyde Barrow is looking more promising since gangster Clyde's parents were both born in Alabama as was Rudy's gr. grandfather. 1860 Census - Choctaw Township - Mississippi John Barrow age is age 60 - Georgia Caroline - wife - age ?38? - Mississippi William W. - age 15 - Mississippi -farm laborer James age 14 John L. age 11 Martha E.age 8 Pleasant H.age 6, Thomas age 4 Robert F.age 1.
