Samuel Burton Beck Obituary Samuel Burton Beck was born February 28, 1864 in Lincoln county, Mo. Departed this life Decemger 27, 1938 at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 29 days. He united in marriage to Miss Cordelia Carroll in 1897. To this un- ion was born nine children, four of which have preceded him in death. Mr. Beck came to St. James in 1896 and remained in this city as an outstanding citizen making many friends. At the age of 17 years he gave his heart to the Lord and united with the Baptist church. Here he answ- ered a call to the ministry and was ordained as Baptist minister. He with Brother Earp organized the Baptist church as Zion Hill, Mo. In spite of his age and affliction he has been very active in the church work in the past three years. His help, prayers and influence has been great in the promotion of God's Kingdom. There leaves to regret his going his wife, two sons: John Beck of St. Louis, Mo., George Beck of St. James, Mo., three daughters, Mrs. Oma William of St. James, Mo. Mrs. Lena Campey of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Bessie Woods of St. James, Mo., three brothers, Charles Beck of Ellsberry, Mo., Philip Beck of Bellflower, Mo., Edward Beck of Ur- bana, Ill., six grand children and a host of distant relatives and friends. Church suffers a great loss. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Baptist church with Licklider and Sons in charge, Rev. M. A. Lanning officiating. Laid to rest in Masonic cemetery.
