Rolla Herald, Thursday, June 21, 1945, page 3: A. J. (JACK) CHAMBERS - Andrew Jackson Chambers was born in Phelps County, MO on April 4, 1880 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. G. Moreland near Belle, MO, Friday morning, June 8, 1945 following a lingering illness. At the time of his death he was 65 years, two months and four days of age. He is survived by three sons, PFC Thomas A. Chambers with the U.S. Army now stationed in Florida after having spent over two years in foreign service; Sgt. Jess Chambers, with the U.S. Army in Austria; four daughters, Mrs. W.B. McKinzie of Broad-way, MO, Mrs. H. G. Moreland of Belle, Mrs. J.E. McLarning of Rolla and Mrs. C.N. John of Broadway; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. S. W. Guffey of Veto, Mrs. D.L. Light of St. Louis and Mrs. Lula Conner of Oklahoma; one brother, J. L. Chambers, passed away in California the first part of this month. Mr. Chambers had spent his entire life on the Phelps-Maries County line near Highway 63. Ill health forced his retirement from the farm some two years ago. He was well known throughout this section and will be remembered as a valuable citizen and neighbor. Funeral services were conducted from the Macedonia Baptist Church Monday afternoon, June 11th by Rev. R. L. Maness, Pastor of the Church. Pall bearers were: Lee Riley, Ira Havens, Gene Ray, Charence Otis, Roy Otis and Walter Riley. Music was furnished by the Church Choir. Burial was made in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home. (Note: Andrew Jackson Chambers Jr. is the son of Andrew Jackson and Susan Emeline (Joice) Chambers)
