The Rolla Daily News, (Front page), Monday, March 28, 1955: WILLIAM CHAMBERS SUCCUMBS AT VICHY William R. Chambers of Vichy, Mo, died at his home early Saturday morning, March 26, at the age of 74. He was born in Phelps Co, July 26, 1880. Mr. Chambers is survived by his widow, Sarah; five sons; Oscar and Alfred, both of St. Louis; Ernest and Walter, both of St. James; and Burke of Vichy; seven daughters; Mrs. Dolly Jurgensmeyer of Safe, Mrs. Fanny Smith, Mrs. Mary Mosher and Mrs. Ethel Bailey, all of St. Louis, and Mrs. Lulu Hance of Rolla, Mrs. Mildred Tennyson of Vichy and Mrs. Irma Iler of Lake City, Illinois; two brothers, James Chambers of Safe, and Charles Chambers of St. Louis. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Chambers has resided in the Vichy community all of his life. Funeral Services were held in the Vichy Community Church at 2 o'clock, this afternoon. Reverend Wilson Davis and Miss Dorothy Davis officiated. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of the Null and Sons Funeral Home of Rolla. (William Robert Chambers, son of James E. and Minerva Florence Hood.
