The Execution.—Willis Washam, convicted at the July term of our court, for the 
murder of his son in Taney Co., paid the penalty of the law on Friday last, at 
this place (25 Aug 1854).  It was the first execution that has taken place in 
Greene County, and the second in this corner of the State since our residence 
here, now more than ten years.  A very large number of people were present—not 
less than five thousand—to witness the scene.  We understand he died asserting 
his innocence to the last.  This he has done at all times since his arrest.—

Willis was a farmer and the county noted on deathpenaltyusa is Platte County but 
public domain, the article was written 171 years ago, the article said the trial 
was in Greene County and it also says he was executed at this place (the article 
was written in Callaway County) and his son died in Taney County.  This is the 
26th execution since 1810 in Missouri
