She had been quite ill for several months and had been able to return home for only a short time before having to go back to the hospital. She was born in Weston February 15, 1907, the daughter of W.A. (Tud) and Mary Steele Stephens, long time residents of this community. She was married to Virgil Allen and he preceded her in death several years ago. The couple made their home in Platte COunty. At one time Mrs. Allen operated the Siesta Restaurant in Platte City and for 12 years she served capably as the matron for the Platte County Sheriff's Department. She retired from that post last year. Mrs. Allen was a pleasant lady who enjoyed greeting her guests in the restaurant business and was always pleased to see a familiar face from Weston. She took special pride in the service to her customers, especially her family and friends. She was a member of the Christian Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Joanne A. Salter, Kansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Betty D. Wallingford, Platte City; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Harpst, Mrs. Christine Frazer and Mrs. Grace Baker, all of Weston; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at the Platte City First Baptist Church with Rev. Lester Weeks officiating. Mary Miller was at the organ and Rev. Kyle Hern sang favored hymns. Pallbearers for burial in the Platte City Cemetery were Tom Thomas, William R. Collier, Michael LeTotneau, Harold A. Price, Walter J. Bolin and Albert A. Dusing.
