Workers from Atchison found the body and reported it to George Osborn, who in turn notified Sheriff Lowmiller. The pickup with lights and ignition on and engine dead, was in the ditch but had not turned over and was undamaged. It was headed south and Mr. Knox was apparently returning from Weston to the home of his son, Willie Knox, East Leavenworth, where he had lived for the past three weeks. Following a coroner's inquest and listening to the testimony of the pathologist, Dr. Graham Parker, Platte City, the jury reached a verdict of death from natural causes and that Mr. Knox had suffered a coronary occlusion. Born March 20, 1886 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Mr. Knox came to Weston in 1911. He was a member of the First Baptist church and at the present time raised tobacco on the W.G. Turner place. His wife, the mother of his children, the former Miss Laura Bell Cline, died in 1939. His second wife, Mrs. Katie Knox, survives. Other survivors are four sons: Louie and Hobart Knox, Wallace, Walter Knox, St. Joseph, and Willie Knox, East Leavenworth; four daughters, Mrs. William Goodlet, Mrs. Elmer Kottman, Weston, Mrs. Jasper Goodlet, Iatan and Mrs. Wilmer Sullen of East Leavenworth. Funeral services will be at the Vaughn Chapel this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. H.A. McCanna in charge. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. His pallbearers will be Gilbert Goodlet, Dan Corbin, Gilbert Nichols, Jack Rowland, Burl McClain and Olen Brownell.
