Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Mr. McClain had come to Platte County as a young boy with his parents, Harry and Ethel Anno McClain. He was a member of the Salem Christian Church and a World War II veteran. For a time, Mr. and Mrs. McClain operated a cafe in Weston and he was popular with both the young and the old. He never knew a stranger and he always had time for a word or two. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Veva McClain of the home in Platt City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara Cormode, Lancaster, Kansas; Mrs. Donna Bosshammer of Atchison; one stepson, Robert G. Scott, Piper, Kansas and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Brumley and Mrs. Bertha Vandrell both of Weston and Mrs. Juanita Michael of Laramie, Wyoming. He also leaves four grandchildren. Services are at two o'clock this afternoon (Friday) with Rev. Ray Briscoe officiating at the Vaughn Funeral Chapel. L.R. Vaughn will be at the organ. Pallbearers are William Murphy, William Love, Bill Stephens, Owen O'Neill, Sam Alexander and Willie Steele. Burial will be in the Lancaster Kansas Cemetery.
