Shenkner Dies In Kansas City Hospital Former Resident Was Ill Nine Weeks After nine weeks of illness, R.O. Shenkner died on Sept. 30th in Kansas City. He was born in Platte County and had lived in Kansas City for 30 years. He was a son of R.O. Sr. and Ada Bonifant Shenkner. Mr. Shenkner attended the county schools and graduated from Weston High School in 1915. He was a WWI veteran, a member of the Southview Baptist church, a Mason and a member of the American Legion, Post No. 151 and of the Veteran of Foreign Wars No. 7900. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Frances Gabbert Shenkner and two daughters, Susan Shenkner Albin and Ruth Shenkner of the home and one grandson. He also leaves one brother, Jack Shenkner of Weston and a sister, Mrs. Posey Leake of Anaheim, Calif. Services were held at Mount Moriah Chapel with Rev. Brian Busch officiating. Masonic services were also held and burial was in Mount Moriah cemeterry, where a flag was folded and presented to his wife. Mr. Shenkner was patient in his suffering and as the Minister said it was most remarkable that this far-sighted man had written his own obituary and composed two prayers. All that was possible was done for him during his illness. His wife and daughters remained almost constantly at his bedside. He was quite popular with the hospital staff and with the many who knew him. Pallbearers were Ross Shenkner, Jack Gabbert, Ernest Lober, Eldridge Dowdell, Herbert Harris and Charles Hart.
