This document can be accessed on the Illinois GenWeb Site. Note 2 Marriage Certificate The two pages that deal with the initial marriage appear to be filled out at the time the marriage occurred. It is probable that it was written by the Reverent Reynolds or one of the wedding party as Benjamin must have been illiterate as shown by his stamping of his name. Note 3 Surname Vunkannon It is not clear whether the Surname of the bride was spelled Vunkannon or Vankannon (or possibly some other variation). As noted in note 1 above, the Shelby Co., Illinois record shows Vankannon while the Bible clearly gives Vunkannon. Further, while neither the 1860 Shelby Co. Illinois census nor the 1840 Marshall Co. Mississippi census show any families of either spelling variation; the surname Vankannon does appear in Marshall Co. Mississippi Church records at a later time (1859). --- END Roger Swan ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
