Pyle & Sarah Pyle to Wm. H. Brooks Deed Know all men by these presents This indenture, made and entered into this thirty first day of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and forty between Edwin Pyle and Sally Pyle his wife of the County of Polk and State of Missouri, of the first part and William H. Brooks of the County of Polk and State of Missouri of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Edwin Pyle and Sally his wife partys of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them paid, Do Grant bargain and sell and convey unto the party of the second part their heirs and assigns forever the following described tract or parcel of land known and designated as follows the east half of the north west quarter of section twenty four in Township thirty three in range twenty six west containing eighty Acres together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the same unto the said partys of the second part their heirs and assigns forever, and the said Edwin Pyle and Sally his wife partys of the first part, do covenant to warrant and forever defend the title to the said premises against the claim of all and every person whatever. In testimony whereof the said partys of the first part hereto sign their names and affix their seals the date first above written. Edwin Pyle (Seal) Sally Pyle (Seal) Attest William M. Roark Thomas English State of Missouri County of Polk Be it remembered that on this 31st day of August 1840 personally came before me the undersigned a Justice of the peace of the County and State aforesaid Edwin Pyle and Saraw (sic) Pyle his wife who are both personally known to me to be the persons whose names appear subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as have executed the same and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and deed, she the said Saraw Pyle being by me first made acquainted with the contents thereof and examined separate and apart from her husband, whether she executed the Said deed and relinquished her dower to the Said Lands and tenements therein mentioned voluntarily and without compulsion or undue influence of her husband acknowledged and declared that she did execute the Said deed and relinquish her dower to the Said Lands and tenements therein mentioned voluntarily freely and without compulsion or undue influence of her husband taken and satisfied before the undersigned day and date above written.
