Power of Attorney of Benjamin Coats - Polk County, Missouri State of Tennessee Bedford County----I Benjamin Coats of Polk County State of Missouri do hereby nominate and appoint either James Coats or John Reed or both of them as the case may be my attorney in fact for me and in my name to sell and convey to any person or persons their heirs and assigns forever who will purchase the same by general warranty deed in one or more tracts as they may think best my proportional part of lot no. 10 in the State of Tennessee county of Bedford formerly owned by Baity W. Coats deceased and now owned by the heirs of said Baity Coats Beginning at a hickory south west corne r of lot no. 9 running thence south 23 4/10 poles to an elm and red oak thence east 96 poles to an Ironwood hickory and elm. Thence North 28 4/10/ poles to two Elms thence West to the Beginning containing seventeen acres---and take and receive the consideration money or to take notes for the same at their discretion they may also bring suit in my name if necessary to gain possession of or establish my title to the same, employ such counsel or other aid as they may need at my expense and charge and I do hereby ratify and confirm any act or thing they may lawfully do in the premises as fully as if I were present and doing the same myself, this the 7th day of Nov 1838.
