She was married on September 11, 1856 to John M. Botts and to this union six children were born, four of whom are dead. Those living are: Mrs. William Taylor of Sumner, Mo., and John M. Botts of Oakland, Calif. Mr. And Mrs. Botts came to Missouri in 1859 where occurred the death of Mr. Botts. On February 22, 1877, Mrs. Botts was united in marriage with Reason Means. One child blessed this union, now Mrs. D. M. Johnson of this city. And with whom Mrs. Means was making her home at the time of her death. Mrs. Means was a Universalist in her religious belief, and all who were acquainted with her will cherish her memory as that of a most estimable friend and neighbor. She was devoted to her friends and tried to make the world sweeter by reason of her having lived. The funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. M. Johnson, at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 20th by Rev. D. B. Fitzgerald, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Following these services the body was interred in the Unionville cemetery.
