Means, an old resident of the county, died very suddenly on last Wednesday night at her home about six miles west of this city. She had been an invalid for several months but on Wednesday she seemed considerably better and spoke of getting her garden seeds together and making preparations to make garden on the following day. These evidences of her speedy recovery after her long illness filled the hearts of the family with hope and pleasure. But they were doomed to sudden and bitter disappointment. During the evening while her children were absent at singing school, and she was alone with her husband she arose and started toward a chair by the stove, when she suddenly stumbled and fell a corpse in her husband’s arms. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and her sudden demise has cast a deep gloom over a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
