Ray County, Missouri Biographies - John E. Linvill (b. 1845) Source: History of Ray County, Missouri 1881; p.695-696 JOHN E LINVILL. Is the son of Thomas and Martha Linvill, and was born in Ray county, Missouri, February 10, 1845. He was educated in the schools of this county, and remained at home with his father, working on the farm, and dealing in stock, until he was twenty-five years of age. Mr. Linvill was married on the 24th of March, 1870, to Miss Kate Grimes, the daughter of Major John and Nancy Grimes. She was born in the state of Tennessee, June 21, 1847. The issued of this marriage has been one child: Thomas G., born June 29, 1872, in this county. Soon after his marriage, Mr. Linvill settled on a farm near Knoxville, and after remaining there for some time, removed to another place in the same vicinity, where he lived until 1879, when he purchased and located upon his present farm (section thirty-three, township fifty-four, range twenty-eight). He owns about one thousand acres of land, all of which is enclosed by good fence, except about one hundred and fifty acres. The farm is handsomely and finely improved, well watered and stocked with the best varieties of live stock.
