Ray County, Missouri Cemeteries - Sunny Slope Cemetery, Richmond, Missouri SUNNY SLOPE CEMETERY Sunny Slope Cemetery was founded in 1911. The cemetery is located on West Main Street in Richmond, Missouri. Sunny Slope lies west of Richmond Cemetery. There is one joint entrance and exit road for Sunny Slope. The plot map divides the cemetery into five sections. There is a northwest section, two "island" sections, a section that encompasses the central north and west, south to West Main Street, and a southwest section. There is a large plot map in the Genealogical Library at the Ray County Museum, 901 W. Royle Street, in Richmond, which may be used to locate burial lots. This listing used the survey of tombstones completed by Pauline Brown and Colleen Crowley in 1986. Marsha Young completed an independent survey by sections and lot numbers in 1989. The second survey included only the year of death and did not provide a birth date or the full date of death if on the stone. However, the listing of the lot numbers was quite valuable to this survey. These two databases were combined. Then Thurman Funeral Home records were used to verify death dates and to add the date of death when there was only a year of death or no death on a stone. The letter "T" after the date of death identifies records that use the Thurman date of death. The entire cemetery was walked to verify the old records and to add new stones for more recent burials. Lot numbers were checked against the previous survey. Some stones have names of people who are still living. No attempt was made to determine whether people with no death date were living or not. The complete listing, including lot numbers, is available at the Ray County Museum Genealogical Library. There are records where no stone could be found. Some of these are from the two previous surveys and some are Thurman records for Sunny Slope. The names were maintained in these records, but a notation is made that no stone found. This database has been completed using a word processing system and it can be easily updated. Please provide corrections to the Ray County Genealogical Library. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ VANBEBBER Claud Austin 1883 Oct 15, 1962 T VANBEBBER Eugene Hutchings May 17, 1914 Aug 8, 1981 S Sgt., US Army, WW II VANBEBBER Florence T.
