As witness our hands and seals this 27th day of December A.D. 1860. George W. Allen Eliza J. Allen STATE OF MISSOURI County of Ray Be it remembered, That on the 27th day of December A.D. 1860 before the undersigned Justice of the Peace within and for the County aforesaid, came the aforenamed George W. Allen and Eliza Jane Allen his wife who are personally known to me to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing conveyance as a party thereto, and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. And the said Eliza Jane Allen being by me first made acquainted with the contents of said conveyance acknowledged on an examination separate and apart from her said husband that she executed the same and relinquished her dower in the estate therein mentioned freely and without compulsion, or undue influence of her said husband. In witness whereof, I hereto set my hand the day and year aforesaid Jos. E. Hull J.P. Filed for record 29th December 1860. Additional Comments: Transcriber’s Notes: 1. In the 1860 census, taken in September of that year, George and Eliza Allen were not living on this land. They in Richmond Township and were fairly well off farmers with 8 children living in the home. George and Eliza disappear from the census in 1870. 2. In September when the 1860 census was taken, Absolom and Jane were living in Camden Township of Ray county and listed as a farmer with $2200 in real estate. I am not sure exactly where in Camden township but judging from the names of neighbors in the 1860 census and land owners on the 1877 atlas of Ray County, it was probably in the same general area.
