Ray County, Missouri - Miscellaneous - Is It Craven, Or Is It Spelled "Cravens"? Richmond Missourian 9 MAR 1942 Is It Craven, Or Is It Spelled "Cravens"? Squire Theodore E. Cravens of Camden, accompanied by his good looking son, Erwin E. Cravens of Kansas City, was here the other day, and they called upon The Missourian. For several years Erwin Cravens has been employed as an expert motor mechanic in the Ford assembly plant in Kansas City, but the motor plant conversion order has left all that large force of men out of their regular line of employment. Of late, Erwin has been at Camden, taking care of dad. Quire Cravens promises to help Jewell Mayes gather material for an article in "Ray County Chapters" on the Craven family history. This brings up the question of how the Missourian will spell the family name will it be "Craven" or "Cravens"? W. Andrew Craven of Excelsior Springs, the lawyer of the family tell The Missourian that Dr. Young D. Craven, the Excelsior Springs physician, has the most complete data of any of the family. Mr. Mayes invites Doctor Craven to help provide essential data on the Craven family, for "Ray County Chapters." Solomon Crave, one of the founders of the family, seems to have spelled his name Craven. Others spell it "Cravens" all akin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jenna Zunker USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
