Ray County, Missouri The New York Times transcription; January 5, 1901 Bank Cashier Missing Richmond, MO., Jan. 4. - A. M. Fowler, President of the Ray County Bank, stated this afternoon that Cashier John W. Shotwell, Jr., has been missing since Monday last, and that a State Bank Examiner is going over the books. What shortage, if any, may exist will not be known, he said, until the bank examiner has finished his work. Mr. Fowler stated, however, that the stockholders of the bank had held a meeting and subscribed $21,000 to cover any shortage that may be found. The business of the institution continues as usual. The bank is one of the oldest in the State.
