Ray County, Missouri - Ray County Conservator transcription: J.D. Taylor Dr. J.D. Taylor Breaks his Leg. Last night about 9 o’clock Dr. J.D. Taylor started home from his place of business, and as has been his custom for years went through the court house yard. At the north gate the ice is quite thick on the pavement and very slick, and the snow which was falling last night only added to its smoothness and made pedestrianism a difficult matter. As the Doctor reached this ice spot his feet went from under him and he fell heavily to the pavement. He regained his footing, however, and started again, but fell once more, this time with his right leg under him in such a manner as to break the bone between the knee and thigh. Realizing that he was badly hurt and unable to rise he called for help. Rev. McDonald ran to his assistance and aided him to his home about a block away. He was made as comfortable as possible through the night and physicians set the broken bone this morning. Dr. Taylor will be laid up for some weeks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jenna Zunker USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
