Haynie Floyd Atkins, a son of the late John Atkins, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sam Green, in the Union neighborhood at ten o’clock Saturday night, January 8th, after an illness of long duration. Deceased was born July 28th, 1893 and died January 8th, 1916. Age 22 years, 5 months and 20 days. He was the eldest son of John Atkins who has gone on six years before on July 8th, 1907. Floyd was converted in the Christian Union church at the age of 14. Six years ago he renewed his strength in God and has lived a consistent Christian life with his Blessed Saviour. He has borne his afflictions patiently for he knew he had a home far beyond in "The Land of Rest." He said he was ready and not to weep over him.
