Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Ida Damaris Bowman (nee Ball) (1870-1955) Ida D. Ball Ida Damaris Ball was born October 12, 1870, at Swanwick near Richmond, Mo. and was married November 32, 1889, in Kansas City, Missouri to Samuel F. Bowman, who passed on from this life Jun 8, 1950. Mrs. Bowman closed her eyes in sleep after a brief illness on Friday, January 14, at 2:30 a. m. in the Baptist Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 84 years and three months. she had made her home with her daughter, Miss Geneva Bowman in Buffalo, Missouri and had recently taken temporary winter residence in Springfield, where the daughter could be near her employment as director of the School of Nursing at the above named hospital. Both Mrs. Bowman and her beloved husband united with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ellsworth, Kansas soon after they were married. Throughout many of these more than 50 years, it fell their lot to live where there was no church of their choice but they were members of the Conference Church, and occasionally lived where they could enjoy church fellowship--One of these occasions being in Kansas City, where they had membership in the Central Church. Mrs. Bowman was the youngest of eleven children and the last one to survive. Her father, Joseph Evans Ball, was a descendant of Joseph Ball, grandfather of George Washington, and trace their ancestry through prominent families and even royalty in England back to the year 1480. But, disregarding the aristocracy and fame of her early forebearers, she rejoiced in the union she received from her Savior, which will entitle her to become a member of the Royal family of the Great King of the universe--the King of Kings in the great Resurrection Day. Her social activities were secondary to her family, nevertheless the records in the books of Heaven record many incidents of good deeds, for which no earthly record was written--yet the effects of her efforts to live a good life are far reaching in her family and friends. She was the mother of six children all of whom now respect her to a Mother in Israel. They were Edward F. Bowman of Kansas City; Merrell E. Bowman of Kansas City; S. Jesse Bowman of Kansas City; Miss Geneva Bowman of Buffalo, Mo.; Modena Bowman Carnahan, Springfield, Mo.; Elton C. Bowman of Raytown, Missouri. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Leverich and a brother-in-law, B. Frank Brown, both of Kansas City, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services were held Monday, January 17 at 2:00 p. m. in Park Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment was in Mount Washington cemetery under direction of Montgomery Funeral Home of Buffalo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Shirley Brungardt USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
