Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Milton Ray Carter (1932-2006) Published in the Kansas City Star on 6/4/2006. Milton Ray Carter Milton Ray Carter, 74, much loved husband, father and grandfather, died at his home in Tacoma, Washington on Tuesday, May 30, 2006. He loved cars, golfing, photography, boating, scuba diving, gardening, cooking, and most of all, his family. Ray was born April 1, 1932, to Everett Harrison Carter and Emma Leona (Mallory) Carter in Henrietta, MO. He graduated in 1951 from Northeast High School, trained in boxing at Lykins Community Center, and was Kansas City Golden Gloves light heavyweight champion in 1956, going on to fight in the Western Regional Championships in Chicago. He boxed with the U.S. Air Force and was the Strategic Air Command heavyweight champion, and continued boxing with the Amateur Athletic Union in Spokane, Wash. He married Carol Stoltz (Glennon High School class of 1955) on Sept. 11, 1956. He served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1976, including tours of duty in Vietnam and the Philippines. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol (Stoltz) Carter, of Tacoma; his children Sonya Lynn (Carter) and Russ Hildreth of Prather, California; Durina Ann (Carter) and Kip Taylor of Tacoma; Lorrine Rae (Carter) and Tim Thompson of Lacey, Wash.; Paul Raymond and Janice (Olsen) Carter of Tacoma; and Dale Patrick Carter of Tacoma; his sister Audrey (Carter) Smith of Fort McCoy, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
