Davenport, of Springs, died Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock, after an illness of long duration. Ellen Miller was born June 13, 1859, in Ray county. She was twice married, her first husband James Duncan, died in 1894. It was during his life that the deceased lived here and continued a resident of Lawson for a number of years after his death. After moving to Excelsior Springs she was united in marriage to W.W. Davenport, who survives her. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. C.F. Bates of Excelsior Springs, and Ms. J.W. Hauser, of Polo, and three brothers, Fred D., of Liberty, M.M., of Olathe, Kansas, and Eugene Miller, of Excelsior Springs. Mrs. Davenport lived a life of usefulness was a good christian character and was an active worker in the church until her health would no longer permit, as several years ago she began to suffer from liver and stomach trouble, which was the direct cause of her death. She leaves many friends as well as relatives in this community who join the host of Excelsior Springs friends in extending their sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Christian church in Excelsior Springs by Rev. John Paul Jesse. Interment will be in the Lawson cemetery at a later date. ---- Richmond Missourian Richmond, Missouri 1920 Death of Mrs. Davenport. Mrs. W.W. Davenport, a native of Ray county, died Sunday afternoon at five o’clock at her home in Excelsior Springs. The funeral services were held from the Christian church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. John Paul Jesse. Internment was made at the Lawson cemetery. The pall bearers were six nephews of Mrs. Davenport, and were as follows: Messrs. Miller Hauser, L.E. Bates, Price Miller, A.M. Bates, Herbert hauser and W.H. Bates. Mrs. Davenport’s maiden name was Miss Ellen Miller and she was born on June 14, 1859, near the site of the old town of Fredericksurg, in the western part of Ray county, near Excelsior Springs. She was twice married, her first husband, James Duncan dying in 1894. She is survived by her husband, W.W. Davenport, two sisters, Mrs. C.F. Bates, of Excelsior Springs, and Mrs. J.W. Hauser of Polo, and three brothers, Fred D. Miller of Liberty, M.M. Miller of Olathe, Kansas, and Eugene Miller of Excelsior Springs. In speaking of Mrs. Davenport, the Excelsior Springs Daily Standard said: Mrs. Davenport lived a life of usefulness and has borne her long illness with Christian fortitude. Several years ago she began to suffer from liver and stomach trouble and this ultimately resulted in her death.
