Mrs. Fields was a sufferer for some time form cancer of the stomach and her condition had been critical for the last few weeks. Her maiden name was Miss Jane McKnight. She spent the greater part of her life in Missouri, and was a resident of the Rayville vicinity for a number of years. A few years ago the family moved to Kansas City. She was numbered among the most esteemed women in this vicinity, and will be missed by many relatives and friends, for she was loyal to all who knew her. Mrs. Fields was the mother of five children, two of whom are dead, and three with the husband survive. They are Mr. Tom Fields of Kansas City, Mr. Cal Fields of the U.S. Navy, and Mrs. Albert Adams of near Rayville. Forty-three years ago Mrs. Fields was converted and became a member of the Christian Union church. The remains were brought from Kansas City and the funeral services were held at the Dockery church at eleven o’clock, Tuesday, March 30th, by Rev. Joseph Helm. Interment was at the Dockery cemetery. The precious one is gone, But yet we love her still. The chair is vacant in her home That never can be filled. We can always hear the footsteps of the precious one, but we know that she was ready for the Lord to call her home, so we must be prepared to meet her on the bright and golden shore. - A Friend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jenna Zunker USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
