Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Leah (Morris) Frazer (1843-1893) June 17, 1893 - Leah (Morris) Frazier The subject of this obituary, Mrs. Leah Frazier, consort of Mr. John Frazier, was born April 11, 1843, in Ray county, Mo. She grew to womanhood in the community in which she was born. In 1866, near the villiage now called Morton, then Shaw's Shoop, in the neighborhood where she had lived all her life, she was happily converted under the ministry of Samuel Alexander and the undersigned. She did not join the Methodist church at that time, but did so about six years ago. On April 20, 1879 she wasunited in marriage to Mr. John Frazier-her maiden name being Morris-with whom she lived happy, loved and respected by his children. Disease had been preying upon her for several years, increasing its forces constantly, until June 17, 1893, when death claimed our sister; but the blessed Jesus came to the rescue , and when the doctor told her that she must go, she said, "All is well. I regret to leave my husband and family, but if it is God's will, I am ready to go. " After calling her ! husband and step- children with friends, not forgetting the doctor who was so faithful in his practice to her, and giving each her hand and exhortation, this faithful wife and neighbor fell "asleep in Jesus." The writer preached her funeral in Hickory Gove Church, and we laid her body to rest in the city of the sleeping, near this church. A vast multitude witnessed these services. May the mercy of God come to this husband and motherless sons and daughters!now for the second time bereft. (Editor's note: First wife of John Frazier was Margaret A. Frazier, daughter of Pitman Frazier and Susan Sherwood, died in 1875) We shall miss her so much. But, thank God, "We know where to find her." Written by D. M.
