Ford died at his home about two and one half miles west of town Monday night at one o’clock. He had been confined to his bed for some time with Lagrippe and on account of his advanced age he was not about to survive the attack. He was 75 years old and had been a hard worker all his life. Mr. Ford had lived on the farm where he died for a number of years. He was a good citizen a staunch friend, an obliging neighbor and stood high in the estimation of those who knew him. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church conducted by Dr. Campbell of Plattsburg Wednesday at 2:30 o’clock, after which interment was made in the city cemetery. Well Known Farmer and Stockman Near Lawson, Passed Away on Tuesday. Mr. Robert A. Ford, one of the well known and well to do farmers and stockmen of the Lawson country died at his home 3 miles west of that place in Clay County, Tuesday, morning, January 11, 1916, at 1:30 o’clock at the age of 76 years. Mr. Ford was a native of Virginia and came to Missouri with his parents when a child. He settled on a farm near Lawson where he spent a greater portion of his life. He was for a number of years one of the leading stock men and farmers of this section of the state, and was one of our first breeders of high grade Shorthorn cattle. He was a Confederate soldier. Up until a few weeks ago Mr. Ford enjoyed good health when he was stricken with a paralytic stroke, and later an attack of grip, which resulted in his death. He is survived by the widow and nine children, six boys and three daughters. Mr. O.A. Searcy is a nephew of Mr. Ford. The funeral services were held in Lawson, yesterday afternoon.
