Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Hughes, Helen d. May 28th, 1893 b. 1893 d. May 28th, 1893 cem. Richmond City Cemetery nee: pd. p. Ray County Conservator com. daughter of Newton & Birdie Hughes obit: Death of Little Helen. "It’s only a little grave, they said, It’s only a little babe that’s dead, And so they turned away. From the mound which the spade had made that day. But Ah! They did not know how deep a sh-de. That little grave in one home had made." Little Helen, infant daughter of Newton and Birdie Hughes, died at the home of her parents in Richmond, Sunday evening, May 28th, 1893, just before six o’clock, of congestion of the brain after a brief illness. She was three months and five days old, and in that brief time had entwined herself around the hearts of her loving parents, until all light and life of the household was centered about her. She was a bright, beautiful and attractive little darling, and from the hour of her coming, every throb of her little heart had only served to draw the tender affectings of a loving father and mother more closely around her and her sudden death seemed too much for them to bear. In their time of bereavement the greatest consolation they can have is, that she came into the world pure and perfect, and that after a brief stay with them her sweet angel spirit returned to the God who gave it just as pure as when it came, and while the body of little Helen lies beneath the sold of our beautiful cemetery, her angel spirit is enjoying the everlasting sunshine beyond death, at the right hand of Him who loves little children and while on earth thus spoke of them "Suffer little children o come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God." Apropriate religious services were held over the remains Monday afternoon by Rev. J.H. Ledbetter, after which they were conveyed to the city cemetery for interment. The parents have our deepest sympathy in their affliction. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jenna Zunker USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
