Richmond Missourian, Richmond, Ray County, Missouri; Page 5 obit: Death of Mary W. Jacobs. Widow of the Late James M. Jacobs, Died at Home of Son, Yesterday. Mrs. Mary Walters Jacobs, widow of the late James M. Jacobs, and one of the oldest women of Ray County, died at the home of her son, Mr. S.D. Jacobs, 2 miles east of Richmond, Wednesday morning, January 5, 1916, at 7 o’clock, at the age of 86 years, following an attack of grip and pneumonia. Deceased was a native of Missouri, born at Wellington, in Lafayette County, April 18, 1829. She was a daughter of Baker and Lucy Martin. She was married to Mr. James M. Jacobs, January 2, 1855, at Wellington. They came to Ray County in 1856 and settled on a farm 3 miles south of Russellville, where Mr. Jacobs died several years ago. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Jacobs has made her home with the family of her son and her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs were the parents of seven children, five of whom are dead. Those who survive are Mrs. William F. Russell and Mr. S.D. Jacobs. The subject of this sketch had been a member of the Christian church in Richmond for a number of years. The funeral services were held from the Jacobs home this morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Elder Jas. E. Dunn of this place.
