New Hope Cemetery obit: Death of Mrs. Penny Russellville Woman Succumbed to Tuberculosis Saturday. Mrs. Julia May Penny, wife of Samuel O. Penny, died at the family home three miles west of Russellville Saturday evening at 6:30 o’clock at the age of forty-one years. Mrs. Penny had been a sufferer from tuberculosis for several months. Her condition had been alarming for some time and the announcement of her death comes as no surprise to her friends. Deceased, whose maiden name was Miss Julia M. Joy, was a native Ray countian, born December 27, 1878. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Joy and is survived by the husband, three sons, two daughter, the father and two brothers and two sisters, viz: John W. Joy, and Mrs. J.F. Renick, of Richmond; J.S. Joy, jr., of Russellville, and Mrs. T.M. Johnson, a resident of Beggs, Okla. Mrs. Penny had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was one of the good Christian women of her neighborhood. She had a wide circle of friends who deplore her death and whose sympathy gose out to the bereaved members of her family. Funeral services were held from the New Hope church near Russellville Sunday afternoon at 6:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G.C. Beery, pastor of the Hardin Methodist church, and Rev. J.W. Meek of the Millville church.
