Died
At his residence, near Elkhorn, Mo, on the 11th day of November, 1886, Mr. Jesse
D. Rowland, one of the oldest citizens of our county. He was born in the state
of Indiana on the 6th day of September, 1816, and moved to Ray county in 1819
with his parents, and has ever since made this his home. Through industry and
saving, he laid up quite an estate to be divided among his children. He was
regarded by everyone who knew him as an honest, upright man, and by his death
his neighbors have lost a useful citizen and his family a kind and devoted
husband and father, to whom we extend our sympathies.
