Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Swafford, Alfred d. November 2, 1893 b. December 17, 1849 d. November 2, 1893 cem. Sanderson Cemetery nee: pd. p. Ray County Conservator com. obit: At his home near Hallard November 2, 1893, of typhoid fever, Alfred Swafford. He was born December 17, 1849, was a useful man in his community, industrious, honest, upright in all his dealings, was a blacksmith by trade and by fair dealings had built up a large trade. He will be missed in this community not only as regards his trade, but as a friend, a neighbor, husband, a father and mother, who survive him. He leaves a wife and five small children and five children preceded him to the better land. He professed hope in Christ during his illness and gave us great reasons to believe he was going to meet his children. He departed life without a struggle and his body was layed to rest in the Sanderson cemetery south of Hallard. Short funeral services were held at the grave, a large number of friends and relatives (for he had many) being present. We extend our sympathy and prayers to the widow and children. His widow’s daughter of Jon A McGaugh, and has a large connection to mourn her loss. Jos. McAdams [We had not learned of the sickness and death of Mr. Swafford, and were very much surprised upon receiving the above. The aged parents and family of the deceased have our earnest sympathy in the loss of one so dear to them. - Ed.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jenna Zunker USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
