Simmons Reatha Mae Simmons, 91, of Richmond, Mo., died Friday, June 25, 1999, at the Shirkey Leisure Acres Nursing Home in Richmond. Mrs. Simmons was born Feb. 15, 1908, in Millville, Mo., to Bert and Press Holder. She was first married to Dorris Turner of Orrick, Mo., on Feb. 24, 1944; he preceded her in death on July 5, 1962 She later married Jodie Lawrence Simmons on Dec. 25, 1962; he preceded her in death on March 18, 1997. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Kraft of Richmond and Helen Linebaugh of Brookville, Mo., one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husbands she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Holder and Grafton Holder; and two sisters, Mary Francis Winingar and Isabelle Kopp. Mrs. Simmons owned and operated Turners Nursery. She helped out and was very active at the Ray County Senior Center. She was a lifetime Richmond and Ray County resident. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at the Richmond First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dallas Bundy will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Richmond First Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond. Pallbearers: Scott Farmer, Mark McFee, Bill Seward, Clyde Rosewaren, John Wright and Bob Russell. Honorary Pallbearer: G.H. Farmer.
