Ray County, Missouri Obituaries - Billy Tucker died Death of Billy Tucker. Relatives and friends in Orrick received announcement Saturday evening late of the death of William Tucker, which occurred at the home of a relative in Cogar, Okla., late that afternoon from an ailment from which he had been suffering more than five months. The remains were returned to his home in southwestern Ray county Monday evening. Deceased was a native of this section, a son of the late D. F. Tucker and wife and a member of a family of 14 children, he being the youngest. He was born September 15, 1864, therefore had passed his 65th year. Mr. Tucker had been married three times. His first marriage was to Mollie Turner in April 1884. She lived but a short time. His second marriage was to Miss Maude Miller in 1892. To this 1 union one child was born but died in infancy. His third marriage was to Miss Anna Dillon on March 5, 1898, and she survives. Of his immediate family only three sisters and two brothers survive as follows: Mrs. Millie Pigg, Mrs. Martha Grider and Mrs. Sally Hall, Andy and D. H. Tucker, all living in the Orrick community. Mr. Tucker began carrying the mail on Route 1 out of Orrick about twenty-five years, in fact had served the department his required length of time to be placed on the pension list had he lived. He was a successful farmer and maintained a splendid country home. His connection with the post office department for so many years had qualified him to know every man, woman and child whom he served, and all of them were his friends. Likewise he was liked and respected by everyone who knew him. Early in life Mr. Tucker affiliated with the Christian Union church and had been one of its faithful members. He was likewise a lifelong member of the Masonic lodge, attaining the degree of a Shriner. Funeral services were held from the Union Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of C. V, Gibson and under the auspices of Ada Lodge. No, 444, A. F. & A.M., Rev. William Butterfield preached the funeral sermon. Burial was in Union cemetery.
