Ripley Co, MO Civil War Pension Affidavit Submitted By: Adryvncdem@aol.com CIVIL WAR PENSION HEIR AFFIDAVIT – CYRUS C. O’NEAL Cyrus C. O'Neal of Gatewood, Ripley County, Missouri: State of Missouri, County of Ripley on 17th day of May 1890, Ulysses Grant O'Neal a resident of Gatewood, County of Ripley, State of Missouri, Age 22. Sworn to be the legitimate child of Cyrus C. O'Neal who enlisted on the 24th day of September 1864, in Co. C, 14 Regt., Mo. Cav. in the war of the rebellion, who died from consumption contracted while in the U. S. service. His death occurred at Gatewood, Missouri, on the 10th day of August, 1869 and that he left a surviving widow who remarried August 24, 1870 and subsequently died. He is the only surviving legitimate child of Cyrus C. O'Neal. Rank: private and corpl. He was furloughed 1/26/1865 for 30 days, cause not stated. (We know from probate records that his father, Robert O'Neal died in late 1864 and that Cyrus was present at the sale of his estate). Supporting documents: Certificate of Marriage for Cyrus C.
